When tragedy strikes and as the world begins to crumble around him, Mark SleepingBear decides that it’s high time to renovate his grandfather’s Cold War era fallout shelter. As conditions deteriorate, Mark struggles with the decision to share his bunker, should the need arise, with his neighbors. For years, Mark has isolated himself from these people. After he shares his secret, his neighbors decide to build their own bunker, a massive shelter, constructed with comfort as the number one priority. Soon, Mark learns that the illusion he has created about his neighbors, is just that. They are far from being the perfect couples he has always envisioned them to be. Mark begins to regret his decision to share the secret. Meanwhile, the country is thrown into an uproar when President Crabtree announces that he has penned a Presidential Order, one that combines the United States with Canada and Mexico, in what Crabtree dubs as the North American Union. Chaos ensues, as the Pentagon staunchly refuses to go along with the plan. Sadly, Mark’s worst fears are soon realized.
Bunkers eBook Nicholas Antinozzi
This book started out pretty good. The story line was good but so many things were out of wack. Some of the grammer was off such as the repeated "I borrowed it to him" instead of "loaned". I don't know if the writer felt that a Native American wouldn't have the use of proper English or what but as a Native American I felt a little offended that only the Native used improper grammar. I couldn't decide whether or not the Native was a prepper or not as he decided to include people in on his prepping that it didn't seem like he really even liked them. Overall I did enjoy the story but didn't care much for the ending as it came all of a sudden and left a lot of questions about what happened. It was a confusing ending and not one I expected from this author as I have enjoyed other books by him. The three stars are because while the story started out well, it seemed to go astray in the middle and then the ending was a total mystery as it was just too far out there.Product details

Bunkers eBook Nicholas Antinozzi Reviews
I normally don't write reviews, as I am not exactly a critic. But, I have to say this book definitely got me thinking. As a longtime member of a book club, I chose this book blindly as I had read Antinozzi's Backspaced a while back and recommended this title on my home page. This can make a great topic of discussion in any book club. The topic, especially in this day and age, hits so close to home. The "unthinkable" fact of terrorism close to home is a very real reality and this author knows how to draw the reader in. His ability to give characters very honest personalities will have you both loving and hating certain characters...however, they are all very believable. This book and the two others I have read since reading this one (it's only been a week..I can't put his writing down) are amazing story telling. The reason for only 4 stars is because of some grammatical or spelling issues, but trust me, they aren't as bad as some indy authors I have read. With that being said, if you don't pick up one of his novels, you would be a fool. They are very well written and very easy reads. The best part is, although fiction, they are quite plausible.
You won't be disappointed, I apparently wasn't as I quickly looked to see other books he had written in the past and read those. I love that we as readers can discover talent that otherwise wouldn't be readily available. This was a treat. Oh, and if you finish the book and don't read the authors notes at the end, you'll be disappointed. He explains the ending...and I am certainly glad he did because I felt, as many readers did, that the ending was abrupt. Keep up the writing Mr. Antinozzi. I will be a long time reader.
I struggled with this book. I liked the character development and it did portray the old Cold War feel very well. I had figured out that the majority of the initial characters would not make it to the end as there was nothing of any substance about any of the children but was surprised at the ending. I can't put my finger on what made this book drag for me, but it did on several occasions. I think some additional work at the end might have helped. There was a message of hope, but it would have been better to see more of that after the climax of this tale.
I'm also cold war era kid. My grandmother cried when Regan was elected, positive that he would, "Push the Button". We lived in the projects and our family was far from wealthy, but, between my father (Sensei), grand dad (Hunter), and great grand dad (World War I I Vet) my brother and I were taught a wide variety of survival and self defense techniques. (Lots of time in the woods. See. If your using a bow and arrows with fishing line then the only real expense is gas.)And yes, with all of the adults panicking and the news with gas prices and the "Twilight Zone " episode with the guy that can stop time for a small amount of time only to see a nuclear bomb hanging right over his neighborhood. I also had my own version of that cleansing hand as a child. What's wrong with a little hope?...
This book is a hot page-turner. It is action packed and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. (I read it in 2 days!) As Mr. Antinozzi thoroughly describes his characters and story, it is clear that he understands people, personalities, personality disorders and PTSD, (My background is police-work and psychology). Mr. Antinozzi "Nails it!"
I admit I'm a fan of the writings of Mr. Antinozzi. I've decided he has a natural God-given gift of versatility on many different levels when it comes to creating a book. Though, I doubt Mr. Antinozzi would agree or readily accept this praise, this book, at the end, reveals Mr. Antinozzi as a very humble person.
It is quite clear that Mr. Antinozzi has a true gift as a writer and I expect to see bigger and brighter things in his future.
I REALLY enjoyed MOST of this book. There were moments that just gripped me. There are a few peculiarities, for sure, but you're reading a book about the expedited breakdown of our nation and how some fairly secluded and most definitely bizarre neighbors deal with it. I liked the main character. He was a good man. He followed a pretty strong moral compass and seemed at times a bit naive but he was an enjoyable character. The neighbors were all goofy. It didn't really matter what was going on to bring these people together- their interactions with each other was fascinating. I read the author's afterward regarding comments made about his ending. I appreciate the twist but I have to say- it DID feel rushed and it was definitely bizarre. The couple of pages of this otherwise really awesome story are the reason I can't give this book 5 stars. I am hopeful for a sequel for the following reason- the story needs it. Not every book needs to be continued but this does. I really enjoyed the rhythm and story development and it would be great to have that follow through to completion. This story is not yet finished.
